Due to the high moisture levels in the bathroom, curtains generally require frequent laundering to avoid the buildup of moisture marks, so you may decide that blinds are the best option.

The fabrics used to manufacture shower curtains are ideal for bathroom blinds and curtains, but they can be hard to obtain. Whatever style of window treatment you choose, however, try to adopt a creative approach. A bathroom decorated in a nautical theme, for example, will be greatly enhanced by a curtain attached via thick rope to an old oar rather than a traditional curtain pole.

Curtains and accessories

If you decide to choose traditional curtains for your bathroom, the fabric and style should enhance the surroundings. The many curtain accessories that are available should not be overlooked, either. Chrome poles with delicate blown-glass finials look spectacular in a contemporary setting, while hand-painted wooden poles add a touch of elegance to a traditional style of bathroom.

Curtain embellishments are now widely available that can be attached to the books from which the curtain fabric is hung from the pole. Styles include small round pebbles, smooth glass droplets and -possibly the most apt addition for the bathroom – a range of seashells. When combined with a simple fabric in an unobtrusive style, these decorative items can look wonderful.

Shutters and blinds

Wooden shutters, and vertical and Venetian blinds, also have a home in a bathroom setting. These products do not suffer from moisture damage, and are available in many practical finishes and a wide range of colors. However, if you want to use fabric in your bathroom, a simple Roman blind, which draws upwards, will keep the fabric away from possible water splashes, making it another practical opt ion.

Shower curtains

Many modern properties have a bathroom with no window. In this setting, you may wish to introduce color and pattern to the room via a decorative shower curtain. If you cannot find one that enhances your color scheme, vein could make a fabric curtain the same size as a shower curtain, with eyelet Fittings along the top edge. This can then be lined with a standard clear plastic shower curtain and suspended in the usual wav. You may need to launder this product more regularly than a normal shower curtain, however, to prevent a build-up of moisture marks.

A bathtub surrounded by walls on three sides would benefit from a similar treatment.
